Sig Sauer P938 Combat Mirco-Compact 9mm FDE
The Sig Sauer P938 Combat Mirco-Compact 9mm FDE is the newest addition to Sig Sauer’s line of P238 pistols. The wraparound rubber grip that comes equipped on this pistol is a comfortable, practical upgrade, featuring finger grooves and a stipled cobblestone surface for improved traction. The FDE design of the P938 Combat is unique to the P938 series, and isn’t found on any other catalog model.
The frame is metal, unlike many other sub-compact 9 mm handguns. The frame for all P938 models is anodized aluminum alloy, and the slide is stainless steel either bare or with SIG’s Nitron coating. Flush-fit magazines hold 6 rounds, while 7-round magazines with an extension are available. The P238 and P938 are Single Action Only (SAO) pistols. These pistols incorporate many of the same safety features found in other SIG Sauer pistols, including the firing pin safety, hammer safety intercept notch, and disconnector. The thumb safety is ON (SAFE) when fully up.
The Sig P938 is an extremely reliable little gun. After over 250 rounds of various plink and defense ammo including Remington UMC and Federal 115 gr FMJ. The P938 had zero failure to feed or failure to extract. Other than that small issue, there haven’t been any problems with the P938 shooting consistently and reliably. The materials used and the manufacturing processes employed to build a Sig P226 are more expensive than those of a Glock 17, so the Sig is more expensive. Sig Sauer has recently designed a modular polymer-framed series of pistols with their new P320.
The standard-issue FBI sidearms are the Sig Sauer P226 or P229, Glock 22/23 in 9mm and. 40 S&W.
